lock(ing) groups Explanation: I think the literal translation is the obvious one here. The talk is clearly of what I've heard called a lock suite - all the locks (Möbel- und Einbauschlösser) can be operated with a single master key (the Generalhauptschlüssel), but there will be subsidiary keys which will open only selected locks within the system. A Schließgruppe is the group of locks that can be operated with a particular subsidiary key. For example, in a house it would be possible for the owner to be able to operate every lock with his master key, but to have subsidiary keys permitting access to only pre-selected areas/rooms/furniture which he might want to give to the cleaner, gardener or whatever - so if you don't want the cleaner to be able to get into your study you simply make sure that there's a Schließgruppe which exludes that room. |
