image for "illumination" Explanation: Maybe someone looking at this can come up with the proper term. Here is a diagram in Portuguese. I haven't yet found the equivalent drawing in English. :-( http://www.sylvania.com.br/pdf/fluor_compactadetalhes.pdf#se... -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 2 hrs (2006-09-29 11:55:45 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- Perhaps, "seal", judging by the photo |

stem Explanation: OK, com base no diagrama que o Edgar adicionou. Encontrei estas referências e parece se tratar do mesmo componente. Uma delas menciona "bulb stem": http://www.enchantedlearning.com/inventors/page/i/incandesce... http://inventors.about.com/library/inventors/bllight2.htm http://www.enchantedlearning.com/devices/lightbulb/label/ Glass fuse enclosure - glass that insulates the bulb's fuses - located in the stem of the bulb |

stem Explanation: Thanks to the link provided by Edgar, and some research I found: stem deter, originar-se, brotar, proceder, derivar; proa, pé (do cálice), pedúnculo, tubo (de lâmpada fluorescente) and this: "The electric light bulb... known as the incandescent lamp, is used to provide light. It consists of a brass or aluminium base having either a screw thread or two small pins projecting from its base. These are used to secure the lamp into a socket. The metal base of the bulb, called a base shell is a hollow cup. Rising from the base shell is a hollow glass tube known as a stem press. Sealed into the stem press are two thin wires that run from the base to the upper part of the lamp." http://www.lycos.com/info/light-bulb.html Hope it helps. Good luck! -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 3 hrs (2006-09-29 13:27:56 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- Also found this one.
