Explanation:
«Agglomeration» se refiere al área metropolitana de una gran ciudad, es decir, a la ciudad grande en sí, más todas las ciudades que se han unido a ella debido al crecimiento, sobre todo, de la primera.

En la siguiente página de la Wikipedia aparecen dos listas con las ciudades más habitadas de Europa, la primera recoge el número de habitantes de la ciudad y la segunda, de la ciudad más su área metropolitana:

Así, por ejemplo, Barcelona tiene 1,6 millones de habitantes, pero su «Agglomeration» (su área metropolitana, que incluye ciudades como Hospitalet, Esplugues, etc.) cuenta con 3,8 millones de habitantes.
