color level Explanation: When you break this word down into its individual components, you get color and level. I doudt if the meaning changes in compound form. |

ink/paint/pigment stage Explanation: The translation of Farb(e) depends on what it means in the context, but in any case 'Stufe' most likely translates as 'stage' (as in a functional component or module of a machine). -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 45 mins (2008-02-18 11:07:10 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- you can add 'dye' to the list... |

dye level Explanation: I feel in this context dye would be a better term |

paint (dye) pump Explanation: I think, even though I could stick my head too far out, that all translations are wrong. In my opinion "... the piston or piston rod of the Farbstufe..." makes no sense when translated by color (pigment, dye) level (stage). I would say that in this case there is a series of operations performed, one of these being the painting stage(Stufe). A magnetic sensor is placed on the compressor piston or piston rod or on the coupling to get an information to be further processed. |
