The hierarchical organization is built around tasks, in other words, what has to be done in the company. Traditionally, the element that links the work the people do in a company to the company's objectives is the job, understood as a set of taskss that the employee mus perform in order for the company to achieve its objectives.
The traditional approach based on job definition implies that people must be assigned to jobs.
Economic development and the related quest for the cost efficiency and flexibility are leading not only to the destruction of the job through the rationalization and outsourcing, but also to radical changes in work organization in companies.
