English term

a toy that will never lie down

English Other Other Toys
Greetings,

I'm not sure if they still have them - I'm looking for the word for a toy with a rounded bottom (weighted?) which, no matter how you try, will never stay down - it always springs up again.

Best wishes,

Simon

punching bop bag

I can't think of the name for it either, though I remember playing with them as a child. Here's a link, giving this name to it.

kelly doll

This is what they were called when I was a little girl, but that was half a century ago and they were a bit unsophisticated for today's generataion of kids.

Bit difficult to find on the web as Mattel have hijacked the name for Barbie's friends. This is the only reference I found to a "real" one:-

Kelly doll. This little chap just won’t lie down. Push him over to the side and he bobs. up again. To make him, use the flattest end of an empty egg shell ...

If you permit me to venture coining this term--the meaning is straightforward and understanding easy.
