Help! This has popped up as a "Werbegeschenk" in a text which has absolutely nothing to do with cooking.

On the Internet I've found odd phrases from "disk to prevent milk boiling over" to "ceramic thingy". Do these exist in English? Or any idea what I could call it to make it sound useful/desirable?

Entire context:
...einen original Milchwächter aus Porzellan, der unsere Großmütter rechtzeitig warnte, bevor etwas anbrannte.

Image: a white china disc with a small rim and a slight indentation in one place, not enough to make it kidney shaped though. (If you're still with me, picture a china teapot lid flattened and turned upside down ...)

Thanks for any inspiration!

milk saver
Explanation:
I think it's a piece of china or stainless steel that you can put in the bottom of a saucepan when you're boiling milk. When the milk starts to boil, the milk saver starts to rattle...

To both answerers and all who dropped by to agree - thanks, it was great to have the answer so quickly. It seems the implement can be called either a "milk saver" or "milk guard" and works as described by SEH.
