subject to (payment of) the foregoing legacies Explanation: The nomination of the heirs (erfgenamen) is made conditional upon payment or satisfaction of some previously mentioned specific legacies. A fairly standard concept when drafting wills, designed to make sure that specific legacies (eg to charities, friends, etc) are met before the residue of the estate is passed to the ultimate heirs. There's usually a similar provision applying to the expenses of administration of the estate, debts and funeral expenses. |
