Probably relates to "line cultures" or blood culture samples drawn from a central venous catheter (peripheral cannulae - with the exception of arterial lines - cannot be used for sampling) in order to identify a source of sepsis. It's also true that peripheral cannula tips can be sent for analysis, but as it doesn't specify I'd go for "line cultures".
