Spanish term or phrase: recursos formales (in this context)
This is from a series of descriptions of architectural or building projects carried out by a company in Spain.

La vivienda se sitúa en la zona más antigua del centro urbano y pretendemos integrarla en el entorno mediante *recursos formales* y constructivos.

Any ideas out there?

... and materials

Sergio is right: that is exactly what it means, but Robert's interpretation is telling of how misleading it will be to an English reader, if you leave it as "formal resources". It will not sound foreign, but it will send them in the wrong direction.

formal resources

Explanation:
I think a literal translation works quite well here. Formal resources in architecture are characteristics that have to do with form (shape, dimensions, volumes, disctribution, esthetic elemens, I am sure any architect could elaborate better...) and which are usually linked to a time period or a specific region. Formal elements could be an alternative.

Explanation:
Tia, perhaps you should try " standard procedures", since this is suggestive of an orthodoxy or the harmony with the existing surroundings that the developers are trying to achieve

Example sentence(s):
  • La representación del discurso musical posee una gama de recursos formales para expresar "el contenido" mucho mas amplia y detallada...

agree  Parrot: I'd use "repertoire of forms and structures" as explained here: http://arqarqt.revistas.csic.es/index.php/arqarqt/article/vi...

  -> Yes, "constructivo" maps to structure, but "form" overlaps "structure"; on the other hand, because the main concern is the visual one, the (construction) materials (or the choice thereof) addresses that concern, don't you think?
