To responder: due diligence can be as broad or as limited in scope as set by the parameters defining it. Essentially, due diligence of a target company to be acquired will be exhaustive and extensive, requiring a data room operation. But due diligence of the object of a pledge, while much smaller and simpler, is still the same thing: it is a document review to check that title to the property/asset is good, that all requisite registrations are current and valid, that all requisite corporate approvals were issued to make the transaction (pledge) valid, that there are no other encumbrances on the property to make the pledge unenforceable, etc.
