أراء مهنية مُحقـِّـرة أو مُضللة araa` mehaniyeh muhaqqireh aw mudallileh Explanation: Professional opinions can be translated as أراء مهنية or استشارات مهنية. According to the dictionary, disparaging can be محقرة or مهينة. The former (محقرة) has the connotation of "belittling", while the latter has the connotation of "insulting", I think that the former meaning محقرة might fit the context better. ما قد يُدلي به المختَصُّون من آراء قادحة أو مُضَلِّلة Explanation: Mona, Please don't let the suggested translation above turn you off. It is only one possibility among many for which I need first to prepare some groundwork. I will start with a couple of suggestions regarding Alaa’s and Raghad’s excellent translation suggestions: 1. Disparaging: In the context of "professional opinions," disparagement would probably not amount to IHTIQAR, IHANA or ISTIKHFAF. These terms carry a tone of almost moral condemnation that I think overstates the case. Raghad’s INTIQAS and DHAMM are a step in the right direction (I am sure you can fix the morphology). I would suggest something along the line of آراء عائبة If you want something stronger, as an apothecary would say, try آراء قادحة The alternative is to rephrase: آراء تقلل (أو تنتقص) من شأن آراء تضع (أو تحطّ) من قيمة آراء تعيب ممارسة 2. Professional Opinions: For those of us who are accustomed to reading translated pieces, the meaning of AARA’ MIHANIYYA may be transparent enough, as we usually guess what it was translated from, but without that bit of reverse engineering, the phrase would be as meaningful as TALQEEM ISTIRJA'I تلقيم استرجاعي (for "feedback"). To come up with possibly more natural-sounding alternatives, I would suggest starting with a closer look at what was meant by "professional" in this passage. Who are the opining professionals? Are these practitioners of the profession of childcare who blabber disparagingly about their chosen calling, or are they highly specialized experts in the field who write disparaging opinion pieces in professional periodicals? Based on what you know, some rephrased possibilities may be: ما قد يُدلي به المختَصُّون من آراء ما قد يَصدُرُ عن مُمارسي المهنة من آراء الآراء الصادرة من محترفي المهنة آراء الخبراء آراء المختصين في هذا المجال AARA’ MIHANIYYA is not a "wrong" translation; I am just exploring other possibilities that may sound more natural. The finished phrase would depend on how far you are willing to depart from the English word order.
