Persian (Farsi) term

خروس

Non-PRO Persian (Farsi) to English Art/Literary Cinema, Film, TV, Drama Slang of the kind used on TV
Greetings,

I realize that the Persian word خروس = rooster, but what does it mean when you call a person a خروس?

In an Iran TV serial a man called Esi said, “به من اسی مرگ میگن” – this was an attempt to appear scary, of course.

But his friend said, unimpressed: نه – تو اسی خروسی!
(Or something like that.)

Best wishes, and many thanks,

Simon

sissy, timid

It is actually intended to be the opposite of that مرگ.

Sissy: a boy who other boys dislike and laugh at because they think he is weak or interested in activities girls usually like, or a person who is weak and cowardly (Cambridge Advanced)

Rooster, cock

May be it reffers to Esi's appearance; like his hair style or something like that.
Example sentence:

banty (rooster)

This fits with the context I think.

I think what the friend means is that Esi is blustering. There is a great Persian expression for it...هارت و پورت کردن
