French term

prévoyance lourde

French to English Bus/Financial Business/Commerce (general) EWC
Can't seem to find an English equivalent for this pretty popular French term. I don't have much context, as it is only mentioned in passing, in a text about other European Works Council matters:

la négociation européenne sur la prévoyance lourde.

death and disability insurance

Stay away from "life insurance", which is overly broad (i.e., not wrong, but possibly misleading) for a pure death benefit.

You could expand "disability" to "incapacity and invalidity" but generally disability is understood to include both.

ref: "régime de prévoyance lourde (incapacité, invalidité, décès)" Find it with your favourite search engine.

The usual way to put it in English, as in ADDI (for accidental death during employment).

Disability and Life Insurance

This is as opposed to "normal" health insurance (mutuelle), prévoyance lourde is a cover for workers' disability and death sustained at work.
