Medical - Medical (general) / Workforce management
Dutch term or phrase: Persoonlijk Levensfasebudget
Hoi allemaal,

Alles goed?

agree  David Walker (X): Makes sense as it does not require knowledge of the Dutch system

disagree  Michael Beijer: Sorry Steven, but I think you need to include at least some reference to the 'PLB'. This solution simply skirts around the problem of a lack of a standard English translation for the new 'Persoonlijk Budget Levensfase (PLB)'.

-> It does indeed explain rather than translate, to fit in the list of other things in the source text. It reflects what it is for the purpose of the document (in my opinion).

Personal age-related leave scheme (Persoonlijk Levensfase Budget, PLB)

I am also not overly impressed with my own solution (and that of JurLex).

Perhaps sth along the lines of... 'personal stage of life-related leave scheme (Persoonlijk Levensfase Budget – PLB)'...?

Example sentence(s):
  • Personal age-related leave scheme (Persoonlijk Levensfase Budget (PLB)) of at least 57 hours, to be used for all kinds of leave, for instance: temporary shorter working hours, extension of maternity leave.

Explanation:
Although I hate footnotes, I'm afraid I don't see another way around this pesky term.

I therefore suggest leaving 'PLB' in your text, and then in a footnote:

* Persoonlijk Levensfase Budget (PLB)(Dutch 'stage of life-related personal leave scheme')
