I think I prefer 'life stage' to 'life phase', and 'benefit' to 'budget'.

... is hier cruciaal. Het hangt ervan af waarom deze tekst vertaald wordt, voor wie. Als het een discussie over arbeidsvoorwaarden in andere landen is, is localisatie meer op zijn plaats. Als het een Engelstalige versie is voor personeel, zou ik het onvertaald laten, en in een voetnoot een referentie maken. Er staat tenslotte alleen maar PLB (in elk geval zoals de vraag hier gesteld wordt), en ik weet ook niet wat dat zou betekenen zonder verder onderzoek te doen.

I had a look through EC documents and peer reports, but as PLB-leave is arranged through sector- and company-level agreement (not in labour law or social security law), there is no comparative data and therefore no "agreed term".

If I would have to use it in a document that actually requires an explanation for comparative reasons, I would have to add a big fat footnote to it...

In any case, this is obviously not a "non-pro" question in my opinion. Vote below if you agree :-).

However, on page 13 in this document it says:

• 'Omvang is onafhankelijk van leeftijd'

but then on page 14:

• 'Omvang is afhankelijk van de te bereiken leeftijd in betreffende kalenderjaar* (* Afwijkende regeling overgangsregeling 50 jaar)'

Perhaps a better name needs to be thought up in English for this, with 'stage of life', or some such, instead of 'age-related'...

Sorry, it doesnt. The allowance is NOT age related but can be taken at any age.

Just to make that point clear: this system gives a worker "time off credits" based on the periods worked. A person can use these "credits" as their own personal situation (their "phase in life" or "levensfase") requires. For example, they can use it for extra time off after birth.

It is a "budget" in the sense that it is saved-up amount of time (not money).

It is not age-related as such - everyone builds the same credits and everyone can take them to the amount they have saved. What is of course true is that one will have more credits the longer one has worked, and that there is a special arrangement for those who are older and never saved up anything (because the system didn't exist).

The non-age-related point is explicit in this trade union document (http://www.mijnvakbond.nl/Documenten MijnVakbond.nl/Zorg/Oud... slide 13 (slide 14 talks about the special arrangement before the system becomes general).

This is talking about the receipients of the care. For sure not the caregivers? The caregivers time is estimated according to the market needs, I suppose.
