Pressure equipment
This comes from a guide to some pressure equipment standards. When naming valves, this document utilizes the terms "robinet" "vanne" and "spoupape." I am not clear whether it is trying to make a distinction or not. Assuming that I use the English "valve" for "robinet," what could I use for "vanne?"

It is highly dependent on the EXACT context, and of course normal usage within the specific sector concerned.
However, as a general principle, I normally translate 'vanne' by 'valve', and then deal separately with 'robinet', which may be a cock, tap, faucet, and probably several other possibilities too. I would say generally that in my experience, FR wouldn't tend to use 'robinet' and 'vanne' as interchangeable synonyms, reserving each for a specific set of meanings; which may or not all be translated by valve in EN!
As for 'soupape', that is usually some special kind of valve; it may be a '(pressure) relief valve', 'safety valve', 'non-return valve', ... — the hardest thing is often deciding which, if the FR doesn't make it explicit.

Je suis d'accord avec Tony. Pour robinet vous utiliserez tap (britanique) ou faucet (USA). Pour vanne c'est valve par exemple vanne papillon = butterfly valve. Soupape se traduit aussi par valve mais les tailles sont bien différentes... Les vannes se trouvent pas exemple dans l'extraction pétrolière, traitement des eaux, usines d'électricité, etc. Leur taille sont d'environ 20 cm mini...et jusqu'à 1m et plus...
