訳文では
「人間を始末するのに十分なほどの武器をポケット一杯に入れた」裁判所から逃げてきたような「二人の乱暴なイギリス人から一方的に襲撃された
とあるのですが、keep them from the courtが、裁判所から逃げてきたような となるのか、疑問です。
アドバイスお願いします。

into the lap of Mother Natureは、「大自然の懐に抱かれて」、また「empty into the lap of〜」ですと、「〜に差し出した」というニュアンスになるようですね。

ですから、lapを文字通り「膝」ととり、「助けてくれる人に対して大金を積む」というニュアンスでしょうか。

: The attackers had a lot of money with themselves, so they were well prepared to do anything, because they had enough money to hire lawyers and etc.お答えは同意しますが、ご説明の「法の追及から逃れられるようにしてくれる相手になら喜んで大金を払うつもり」というのは違います。弁護士に払う金があるからどんな相手にでも暴力をふるう、というやくざな人の話ですね。

courtをどう訳すかなかなか難しいところです。
