Spanish term

ventiladores norte en aspiración

Spanish to English Tech/Engineering Transport / Transportation / Shipping Interconnection Tunnel
Interconnection Project

This basically is referring to the north fans being in operation (in a diagram of the evacuation direction in the event of a fire) but I'm wondering if there is a more appropriate way of phrasing it.

There's not much more context apart from:

"Ventiladores sur parados"

and before the diagram the words:

"Si el acceso a la obra es del lado norte (Francia) y el incendio está entre el extremo norte y los intervinientes:
1. Cierre de la puerta norte
2. Orientar el sentido de la ventilación Sur / Norte en el ventilador Norte
3. Apertura de la puerta sur"

I'm not sure why it says "en el ventilador Norte". Surely it should be "of/from the North fan"?

Many thanks in advance.

Close the Northern door
Run Northern fan in a South to North direction
Open the Southern door

Yes, that's pretty much what is happening here. Currently I'm just using "in operation" for "en aspriración" but I'm wondering if there is a better way of saying it.
polyglot45 Nov 5, 2014:
basically they have a system of ventilation that can work N - S or S - N and, in the event of fire, if the fire is to the north, the system should be set towards the ventilator(s) positioned to the North. i.e. sending the air flow towards the North exit to evacuate the fumes in that part of the tunnel

Selected

north fans to (aspirate) draw in air

en aspiration means the fans are sucking in air as opposed to blowing it out

also 2. is "Orient the direction of the North/South ventilation of the fan North

"en el ventilador Norte" is not a total phrase, "en el ventilador" is referring to "el sentido de la ventilación Sur / Norte" and the final "Norte" is simply saying which way it should be oriented
