Discussion

matt robinson (asker) Jun 18, 2015:
Thanks Neil. I don't think on the fly fits the meaning. Ongoing is probably right. I suspect the document was originally written in Italian, and subsequently translated into Spanish, although the document is of very high quality. I may have to check it with the client.
Neil Ashby Jun 18, 2015:
Matt My suggestion just stems from "en curso", considering "en vuelo" to be a variation on the same theme, possibly used in a specific region or LatAm country (but I suspect the text is from Spain, no?).

If you like "on the fly" but find it too informal how about "improvised"? (Having said that it doesn't seem to fit the context to me.)
matt robinson (asker) Jun 18, 2015:
Hi Bill. Thanks, but this is related to telecom projects, not architecture. I think Neil could be right. It was something I considered but I've never heard the expression before. On the fly sounds a bit too informal for this document, and I'm not sure the meaning is right, either. I'll wait a bit longer, but I don't suppose I'll get any more answers now. Any further input would be welcome, though.

This is probably referring to some sort of overhanging construction....

ongoing

Could it be that they are transferring the technical responsibilities for "ongoing" (pre-existing) infrastructure projects as opposed to just new projects with this supplier?

On the fly

Si entiendo bien es que en vuelo se aplica como algo que se hace de inmediato. La frase correcta en el uso del ingles norte americano es "on the fly"
