depending on the context. If the laser is used for machining purposes (e.g., cutting, drilling, etc.), "numerically controlled" is the proper term.

Alternatively, if the laser device is not part of a machining system (for instance, if it's a component of a missile defense system), "digitally controlled" is the phrase to use.

Usage confirmed with a colleague (post-doc in applied physics) who consults to Lawrence Livermore National Labs.
