This affects a civil servant's entitlement to pension, see below extract from the law. Does anyone know of a similar word in British English or a usable translation?

"Eine Anrechnung findet nach Vollendung des 65. Lebensjahres (ab 2012 ggf. das jeweils schrittweise erhöhte Lebensalter) nur in den Fällen statt, in denen ein Erwerbseinkommen aus einer Beschäftigung im öffentlichen Dienst (Verwendungseinkommen) erzielt wird; d.h. aus Beschäftigung im Dienst von Körperschaften, Anstalten, Stiftungen des öffentlichen Rechts oder ihrer Verbände sowie über- oder zwischenstaatlicher Einrichtungen. Lediglich für hessische Beamte wird bei Bezug von Verwendungseinkommen auch dann keine Anrechnung mehr vorgenommen. "

neutral  Lancashireman: The whole point is that these are pensioners, i.e. they have retired from the civil service but have now returned in a non-permanent (supply) capacity while still drawing their pension. Your slimmed-down yet padded out version does not reflect this.

Dazu zählt auch jede Beschäftigung im Dienst einer zwischenstaatlichen oder überstaatlichen Einrichtung, an der eine öffentlich-rechtliche Körperschaft durch Zahlung von Beiträgen oder Zuschüssen oder in anderer Weise beteiligt ist.
