French term

décompte de surface

French to English Bus/Financial Real Estate in a Rental Contract
The term appears at the end of a French rental contract under a list of attached documents.

Would 'surface area statement' work in English (AU)?

Many thanks in advance!

Discussion

Andrew Paul Kennett Nov 5, 2022:
I would just use useable area or surface as décompte in this case would be "count" or list. So List of useable areas or surface. This implying if it is a house, a shop etc. meaning rooms or floor space.

floor-area breakdown

I can't answer your question re. 'surface area statement', but if you have encountered the term, why not ?

OTOH, I CAN vouch for 'floor-area breakdown', even if in the example below the types of areas relate to functions rather than to usability (esp. headroom).

floorspace estimate (Oz / ind.)

Useful area rather than us(e)able in the first discussion entry that made me wonder what kind of *tech/engineering*-header rental contract this is: engineering workshop ('account'), residential, business or even - from my retail experience - retail for money exchange bureaus at airports in Europe.

Be wary of calling the décompte a (definitive) statement, unless the floor area is land-regd.
Example sentence:

Oz: TOTAL Estimate of Gross Floor Area sqm External Area Estimate for External Areas % = sqm

Oz: xyz has not committed to an amount of floorspace in the new build.

Peer comment(s):

neutral AllegroTrans : Why does the floor area need to be registered before a breakdown can be produced? Wouldn't an estimate be "une estimation"?
