FLYVERESSER

German to English Other
"Flyveresser" is actually a word in a Danish text that I am translating into English. However, I thought I would try some expert help on the German/English site too.

Die Deutsche Luftwaffe havde også sine elitepiloter - FLYVERESSER - og blandt dem XXXXX som skulle være en af basens bedste JU-88 piloter.

Could flyveresser be a mixed Danish/German word?

Any help appreciated.

Flying ace

I'm certainly not sure about this, it's just the sound when I try to pronounce it. It fits the context, especially seeing the "elite Piloten" reference. It resemble the German "Fliegerasse" to me.
