Portuguese term or phrase: APAREMOS
(lugar) está passando por uma FAXINA TECNOLÓGICO que, em breve, deverá acontecer em todo o país. Os moradores do (Lugar) estão trocando as suas 700 geladeiras por APAREMOS que poluem menos que os modelos vendidos atualmente no mercado

This word obviously means 'apparatus' or similar, but how come it doesn't appear in dictionaries???!!!

Any alternatives to 'apparatus'?

English translation:appliances
Explanation:
I think there may be a misspelling here. For "aparemos" perhaps read "aparelhos". So either appliances, equipment, or similar.

It's NOT a typo, it appeared in exactly that form TWICE in the text, maybe it's a word specific to an area of Brazil?? It did in fact appear in Google.

models

Explanation:
I hope this doesn't sound pedantic, but if you say 'they are swapping their fridges for appliances which...', this may sound a tad ambiguous. May I suggest 'models' as an alternative, as this makes it clear that we are still talking about fridges?

the 'aparemos' mistery...

Explanation:
'Aparemos' is a form of the verb 'aparar' (which means 'to trim' or 'to cut') that's why you got so many hits on Google. It doesn't apply in this context.
