O wonderful Spiritual Teacher, (Your) name is true. Explanation: Waheguru consists of three words i.e. Wah+e+Guru. Wah is an exclamatory word denoting admiration and appreciation and Guru means Spiritual Teacher and e is an address to Him which has been replaced by me as O above. Sat is a derived form of Satya meaning true and naam means name. I have added 'your' from my side to make it clearer. This holy phrase is frequently recited by the followers of the Sikh religion in the honour of their Spiritual Teacher. They appreciate Him and seek His blessings. -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 2 days 19 hrs 27 mins (2004-09-28 17:49:09 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- It is somewhat difficult to translate the word Guru in English and I think Spiritual Guide might be a better option than Spiritual Teacher. |
