سلام

Pronounced SALAM (stress on the second syllable).

If used abstractly, you will need the definite prefix AL-. The word would become Al-SALAM السلام

The L in the definite prefix takes the sound of the initial consonant S, so the word is pronounced ASSALAM.

This is a term that is posted reqeatedly. We typically squash reptitions, but I have an almost superstitious fear of squashing a term that is synonymous with God.

I assume you meant \"absence of war\"

another common term is سلم, pronounced SILM

SILM is more commonly used when the reference is to the absence of war. SALAM is used for the broader sense.
