Comment: "Dear Weiyong,
I am sorry to say that your answer is not correct, but you are getting quite close. This is a very difficult question regarding a complicated chemical compound. I posted this question because I want to be 100% sure of the answer when translating the patent for my client. Currently, we may not be able to find any existing answer for it in any dictionaries or organic chemistry textbooks. It is impossible to include all organic chemical names in any dictionaries since the number of organic chemicals is unlimited. We can only use rules of nomenclature, such as IUPAC, for naming the chemicals. You are the only one who tried to name this complicated compound in this way. Although I couldn't accept your answer, I do appreciate your help and great effort. Thank you!"
Discussion
Perylene Dicarboxamidine Imide is one of the important chemical compounds in the patent I am currently translating. So far, I havent seen any translation for this compound in Chinese.
The compound contains 5 fused benzene rings, or can be regarded as 2 naphthalene molecules combined with 1 benzene ring in the middle. That is why you are right in that perylene can be named as Ƕ. Preferably or simply, it can be named as p. Meanwhile, carboxamidine means . Imide stands for ǰ. Now, the key is di. According to the structure of the compound, it contains only one carboxamidine. So, di doesnt mean ˫ or here. I think it is quite possible that it means here. So, I think the compound may be named as p߶ǰ. I sincerely welcome further suggestions and comments. Thank you!
