Car seats
In a document giving the specifications for manufacturing car seats, I have this sentence.
Les boîtiers de Contacteurs Electriques d’Assises (CEA) et de mémorisation sont imposés et feront l’objet d’une mise à jour ultérieure de cette STD (spécification technique détaillé).
I can only come up with "electric seat contact", but without much conviction. Google came up with only one occurence.
Any ideas?
Thanks

electric seat relay(s)
contacteur is USUALLY a relay --- an intermediate device that allows a low-power switch to operate high-powered equipment. In some other applications, we do actually use the word 'contatcor' in EN, but usually in mains / AC power, not usually for 12 / 24 V autopmotive applications.
It is odd that they express it 'contacteur électrique', since it is difficult to imagine any other kind! I think in this case it is legitimate to make the leap to 'electric seats' (since clearly, by definition, they must be!)
If the FR is being used somewhat inaccurate, they MIGHT mean 'contact' or (more likely) microswitch, so you may need to just check with the rest of your context which makes more sense...

electric switch for seats
The multiway switch used to control the electric seats on all Discoveries, and some Range Rovers, can be prone to premature failure. This switch is over $200 from the dealer, so it's worth attempting to repair it for yourself. Here are some instructions to guide you through the process. Click any image for a larger version.

The subject invention is a vehicle seat assembly which is removably mounted to a floor of a vehicle. The seat assembly includes a seat and an electrical device mounted to the seat. A riser is mounted to the seat and a latch mechanism is mounted to the riser for securing the seat to the vehicle floor. In the preferred embodiment, a first electrical connector is mounted to the latch mechanism for delivering power to the electrical component. A second electrical connector is mounted to the vehicle floor for delivering power to the first electrical connector wherein the first electrical connector automatically engages the second electrical connector when the latch mechanism secures the seat to the vehicle floor such that the first and second electrical connectors close a circuit to power the electrical device.

Depending on the context it could be a connector rather than a switch

: Sorry, Kate, but 'switch' is too much of an over-simplifcation of what a contactor usually does (and why it needs a box), and it is almost certainly NOT going to be a connector.

I agree with Bourth. And I have often seen "contactor" used by Renault for "contacteur".
