We look forward to a life with you

This is nice.

"Wir freuen uns" is a typical and much-loved idiom. More than " we are glad".

Other possibilities might begin with "We are delighted ... " but "We are delighted at the prospect of a life with you" I find stilted, too long-winded for the context, and "We are delighted you have come to live with us" I find both a bit too loose and a bit weak.

Eli, maybe we should combine in \"We are delighted to have you among us(/in our midst)\"

We look forward to the joy of life with you

You might tinker with this but it seems to me that this way, you express the idea of Freude = joy, appropriate in the circumstances. Hope this helps.

We are looking forward to a life with you.

We are looking forward to living together with you.
We are looking forward to being together with you
We ar looking for to sharing our lives with you.
I must say that it sounds Germanic to say "We look forward." It seems to me that the correct translation is "We are looking forward .. "
It appears to be vey difficult for native German speakers to know when to use the "extra verb."
Peer comment(s):

neutral Isabel Cole (X) : we look forward sounds normal to me too - and sounds better when combined with living, being, sharing (otherwise too many ings)
