Italian term

fluido elaborato

Italian to English Tech/Engineering Automotive / Cars & Trucks EGR system
Context: description of the main components of a conventional EGR (Exhaust Gas Recirculation) system.

- valvola di regolazione delle portate di **fluido elaborato,** opportunamente raffreddata, azionata elettricamente e controllata in posizione dalla centralina elettronica motore.

My translation: processed fluid

Doest that sound right, or is something else?

Thanks --

treated fluid or cooled exhaust gas

The "fluido elaborato" is the exhaust gas after cooling. If you want to stick as close to possible to the original text, I'd use "treated".

If you have the liberty to make the description more "native" then use some thing along the lines:
Regulator valve for cooled exhaust gas, eletronically controlled and actuated by the ECU (engine control unit).

They are just trying to explain what an "exhaust gas ricurculation" (EGR) valve does and how it's controlled.

agree Barbara Toffolon (X) : Pardon me Kimberly, but would the word "fumes" be more appropriate than "gas" in this context ? Just a thought.

Thanks Barbara - fumes might be more UK; I've got a definite US tendancy... :)
