Spanish term
madera de color
Spanish to English
Tech/Engineering
Forestry / Wood / Timber
Country: Honduras.
This refers to tropical woods used in the manufacture of furniture. "Colored wood" would be a literal translation, but I can't document this in English.

From the references I’ve seen in English, it appears to refer to hardwoods, and the second text talks about “colored hardwoods”.
Two-thirds of Honduras is covered with tropical and pine forests. Honduras is known throughout the world as the only source of genuine "Honduran mahogany" (swietenia mahogani), from which the finest quality mahogany furniture is made. The country also has large reserves of high quality pine (pinus oocarpus) which is exported to the US as components and finished items. Other hardwoods such as rosewood, teak and tropical walnut are also readily available (http://www.ca-bc.com/zip_internacional/exist_ind.html#anchor...
Usually, fine quality chairs in Honduras are made of colored hardwoods such as laurel and mahogany that are slow growing and come from Honduras' increasingly scarce uncut primary forests. The beautiful Windsor chairs of this program are made of cola de pava, yema de huevo and mangelete -- woods that are usually used for firewood. They grow in the secondary forest and Fundacion Vida supports a reforestation project for these non-traditional woods. By expanding the number of different woods that can be used, pressure on scarcer hardwoods is reduced. (http://www.marrder.com/htw/special/environment/59.htm)
Hope it helps.

Comment: "I appreciate the reference. I think we can assume that all these woods are "hardwoods"."
