From a finacial rating report into a large sheet metal company

Recobro: se han estresado las proyecciones de la compañía para forzar el default de la misma en el ejercicio 2020 con el objeto de estudiar el posible escenario de recobro de los bonistas.

I don't see what action has been taken with regard to the company's forecasts here, it's not a use of "estresar" that I've seen before

A stress test, in financial terminology, is an analysis or simulation designed to determine the ability of a given financial instrument or financial institution to deal with an economic crisis. Instead of doing financial projection on a "best estimate" basis, a company or its regulators may do stress testing

neutral  Adrian MM. (X): emphasised or strained? No comprendo, mate.//So the projections have been stress-tested rather than 'stressed'.

-> As in strained, have a nosey at the reference, guv.//I'd say the stress testing is done by stressing the projections, i.e. entering excessively harsh variables/scenarios to give the worst possible outcomes.

agree  philgoddard: This makes perfect sense.

agree  Steven Hanley (X): "stressed" is correct - forecasting what will happen to a portfolio under different adverse economic conditions; "stress testing."
