Al fin, su marido se cansó de quedar bien con ella y se fue a quedar bien con alguien más.
Los primeros días Ofelia sintió la soledad como un cuchillo y se tuvo tanta pena que andaba por la casa a ratos ruborizada y a ratos pálida. [...]

Un día cambió los cuadros de pared, otro regaló sillas del comedor que de tanto ser modernas pasaron de moda. [...]. Al último arremetió contra su sala, segura de que urgía cambiar la tela de los sillones.
El tapicero llegó al mismo tiempo en que le entregaron por escrito la petición formal de divorcio. La puso a un lado para pensar en cosas más tangibles que el desamor en ocho letras. Trajinó en un muestrario buscando un color nuevo y cuando se decidió por el verde pálido el tapicero llamó a dos ayudantes que levantaron los muebles rumbo al taller.
[...] Ofelia los vio irse y siguió con la mirada el rastro de cositas que iban saliendo de entre los cojines: un botón, dos alfileres, una pluma que ya no pintaba, unas llaves de quién sabe dónde, un boleto de Bellas Artes que nunca encontraron a tiempo para llegar a la función, el rabo de unos anteojos, dos almendras que fueron botana y un papelito color de rosa, doblado en cuatro, que Ofelia recogió con el mismo sosiego con que había ido recogiendo los demás triques.
Lo abrió. Tenía escrito un recado con letras grandes e imprecisas que decía: «Corazón: has lo que lo que tu quieras, lo que mas quieras, has lo que tu decidas, has lo que mas te convenga, has lo que sientas mejor para todos».
«¿Has?», dijo Ofelia en voz alta. ¿Su marido se había ido con una mujer que escribía «haz» de hacer como «has» de haber? ¿Con una que no le ponía el acento a «tú» el pronombre y lo volvía «tu» el adjetivo? ¿Con alguien capaz de confundir el «más» de cantidad con el «mas» de no obstante?
La ortografía es una forma sutil de la elegancia de alma, quien no la tiene puede vivir en donde se le dé la gana.
Según el pliego que debía firmar, la causa del divorcio era incompatibilidad de caracteres. «Nada más cierto», pensó ella. «La ortografía es carácter». Firmó.

În cele din urmă, soţul ei se sătură să se aibă bine cu ea şi se duse să se aibă bine şi cu altcineva.
În primele zile, Ofelia simţi singurătatea ca pe un cuţit şi era atât de necăjită încât umbla prin casă câteodată îmbujorată, câteodată lividă. [...]

Într-o zi, schimbă locul tablourilor pe perete, în alta dădu în dar scaunele din sufragerie care de moderne ce erau au devenit demodate. [...]. În cele din urmă, s-a năpustit în salon, sigură că era neapărat nevoie să schimbe tapiţeria de pe fotolii.
Tapiţerul ajunse în acelaşi timp în care îi înmânară cererea oficială de divorţ. O puse la o parte ca să se poată gândi la lucruri mai lumeşti decât lipsa iubirii din şase litere. Cotrobăi în colecţia de mostre căutând o culoare nouă şi când se hotărî pentru verdele pal, tapiţerul chemă cele două ajutoare care ridicară mobilele pentru a le duce la atelier.
[...] Ofelia îi văzu plecând şi urmări cu privirea urma lucruşoarelor care tot ieşeau la iveală dintre perne: un nasture, două ace, un condei care nu mai scria, nişte chei de cine ştie unde, un bilet la belearte pe care nu îl găsiră la timp pentru a ajunge la reprezentaţie, coada unei lunete, două migdale care fuseseră odată aperitiv şi o hârtiuţă de culoare roz, împăturită în patru, pe care Ofelia o culese cu acelaşi calm cu care culesese şi celelalte nimicuri.
O deschise. Pe ea era scris un mesaj cu litere mari şi neclare care spunea: «Iubire: fa ce vrei, ce vrei tu mai mult, fa ce hotarasti, fa ce-ti comvine mai mult, ce crezi ca va fi mai bine pentru toti».
«Fa?», spuse Ofelia cu voce tare. Soţul ei se duse cu o femeie care scria «fă» de la a face ca «fa» de la fată? Cu una care nu scria cu diacritice? Cu cineva care era în stare să confunde categoriile gramaticale?
Ortografia este o formă subtilă de eleganţă a inimii, iar cine nu o are, poate trăi unde are chef.
După cum declara, cauza divorţului era incompatibilitatea de caractere. «Nimic mai adevărat.», gândi ea. «Ortografia înseamnă caracter.» Semnă.

Art. 23^1 – (1) Persoanele cu domiciliul sau reşedinţa în România, precum şi cetăţenii statelor membre ale Uniunii Europene care se află la studii în România pentru o perioadă de cel puţin 6 luni sau care au rezidenţa normală în România, pot solicita obţinerea permisului de conducere la autorităţile competente să le examineze.(...)

Art.24. - (1) Examinarea pentru obţinerea permisului de conducere şi eliberarea acestuia se realizează de către autoritatea competentă pe raza căreia solicitanţii îşi au domiciliul, reşedinţa ori rezidenţa normală sau, în cazul celor aflaţi la studii în România potrivit art.23^1 alin. (1), de către autoritatea competentă pe raza căreia se află instituţia de învăţământ .(...)

Art. 83 – (1) Au dreptul să conducă autovehicule pe drumurile publice din România, dacă îndeplinesc condiţiile prevăzute la art. 20 şi 23 alin. (1), titularii permiselor de conducere naţionale valabile, eliberate de autorităţile:
a) statelor membre ale Convenţiei asupra circulaţiei rutiere, prevăzută la art. 82 alin. (2);
b) statelor membre ale Uniunii Europene;
c) statelor cu care România a încheiat un tratat privind recunoaşterea reciprocă a permiselor de conducere auto.
(2) Pentru a conduce un autovehicul pe teritoriul României, persoanele care sunt titulare ale unui permis de conducere naţional eliberat de autorităţile unui stat care nu este membru al Convenţiei asupra circulaţiei rutiere şi nici membru al Uniunii Europene ori cu care România nu a încheiat un tratat privind recunoaşterea reciprocă a permiselor de conducere auto, trebuie să posede şi permis de conducere internaţional.(...)

Art.101. - (1) Constituie contravenţii şi se sancţionează cu amenda prevăzută în clasa a III-a de sancţiuni următoarele fapte săvârşite de persoane fizice:
1. conducerea unui autovehicul cu permis de conducere a cărui valabilitate a expirat;
2. abrogat;
3. conducerea unui autovehicul de către o persoană cu domiciliul în România care nu a preschimbat permisul de conducere obţinut în alt stat, în termenul prevăzut de lege;(...)

Art.83. - (1) The following persons have the right to drive motor vehicles on Romanian public roads provided they meet the requirements mentioned in art.20 şi 23 alin.(1), holding national valid driving licenses issued by the authorities from:

b) member states of the EU;
c) states with which Romania has signed an agreement regarding the mutual recognition of driving licenses.
