¡Hola! Vicki here and excited to see how I may assist you!
Currently, I am a freelance Interpreter for 5 different interpreting companies, two of the companies I really enjoy the most have me interpreting for Charlotte Mecklenburg Schools; mainly IEP meetings, and Speech & Feeding Therapy for Bi-lingual or Limited English Proficiency children.
I am also Personal Assistant for a family of a very successful Director for one of the very big banks.
I have current experience in providing freelance interpreting services for schools in the Charlotte Mecklenburg School Systems (CMS). I help bridge communication between parents, teachers, and staff through different types of meetings in person and over the phone. Interpret during Parent-Teacher meetings and conferences, curriculum open houses, IEP (Individualized Education Plan) meeting, LEP (Limited English Proficiency) meetings, and other Special Education meetings and administrative matters. Assist teachers with light translation for school assignments or simple instructions for parents and/or students.
I also have current experience interpreting for Medical appointments, & Insurance (car & worker's compensation) companies (EUO's). The most rewarding medical work is Speech therapy which is generally given to children. I enjoy this the most as I get to teach them their parent's beautiful native tongue and engage them through different types of play therapy.
I enjoy assignments with children the most because I remember what it was like being raised by my mother, who was an immigrant and was Limited English Proficient and having to help her translate and interpret everything into Spanish. I was lucky enough to understand as a very young child how important most things my mother was having me help her with -- like payment arrangements with mortgage companies, making doctors appointments for my very ill grandmother, different things like this. But there are many LEP parents out there that don't have anyone to help them understand, much less -- help them get the help and resources they may need.
As an interpreter I enjoy helping --My People-- "Mi Gente", and I take pride in being helpful and going above and beyond in helping with my clients' needs.
