French term or phrase: (sans) tomber dans un bouquet touffu
By any chance has anyone heard this expression before? In a report relating to crop plantation schemes in Africa:

"Par où faut-il commencer sans tomber dans un bouquet touffu?"

The text talks about crop mixture schemes and I think the sense is something like "how do we go about preventing chaos with different people planting crops in different places?" But I confess I've not heard this expression before-- is it common, or is it just an invented play on words, and/or does anyone agree/disagree with my interpretation? Any thoughts appreciated...

Brer Rabbit's sunglasses

Explanation:
Or shades of Brer Rabbit at least.

Makes be think of "Please, oh, please, don't throw me in that briar patch". Of course if you can weave "thorny/prickly situation" into your text to back it up, or "getting into a situation you can't back out of", it would help.

Sorry, "without throwing ourselves into a briar patch" to start off with.

While my suggestion does not play on "planting" words, I think this is the sense.
