English term
flourish, bloom, thrive
Topic: photography
...presents an exhibition that, ***through an art form that bloomed during the twentieth century,*** prosposes fundamental concepts about culture, photograpgy and icons in the twenty-first...
I don't need an exact translation, just writing a text based on this idea. The problem (I think) with "va florir" is that it also means to get moldy, to rot and that obviously is not the idea. I need a phrase it Catalan that means to bloom or better yet: to come into one's own.
Thanks!

prosperar
That's the first verb that I could think of for this context. But I am sure you will get lost of other suggestions.

I just wanted to add that I agree with Lluís - florir sounds fine to me too. However, I just suggested \'prosperar\' in case you were looking for an alternative.

: a mi tampoc no m'agrada florir, aquí. Trobo que sona com un calc, i que 'prosperar' diu tot el que ha de dir

: Els meus companys tenen raó, tant “florir” com “prosperar” són correctes. Cada traductor escull el que més li agrada. A mi, per exemple, m'agrada més "florir".

florir
This translation resumes simply and perfectly what you seek. The sentences you write would be: "mitjançant una forma d'art que va florir durant el segle XX".
If you feel uncortable with "florir", use "sorgir" or "aparèixer".

Don\'t worry about \"florir\". Its secondary meaning (that of \"get moldy\") is expressed with its reflexive form (\"florir-se\"), so you don\'t get confused when using \"florir\" and not \"florir-se\": el roser FLOREIX \'the roses bloom\' / el pa ES FLOREIX \'the bread gets moldy\'

: D’acord amb “florir”. No tant amb “sorgir” o “aparèixer” perquè aquests mots no impliquen un resultat d’èxit, (Un moviment o art pot sorgir o aparèixer i resultar un fracàs). En canvi, "florir" o "prosperar" sí que indiquen un resultat d'èxit.

Another option, which is near to "come into one's one".
