Czech term

forenzní dopady

Czech to English Law/Patents Medical (general) gynaecology, obstetrics
Zároveň v období baby boomu, zvyšující se procentu císařských řezů .... je nutno na děložní rupturu více pomýšlet. Zároveň se tak vyhneme i vyššímu riziku forenzních dopadů.

Is it all right to use a general term like "legal repercussions"?

Discussion

Dylan Edwards (asker) Feb 7, 2013:
I stayed with "legal repercussions" because it was adequate for the context. For me, personally, the word "forensic" (occurring only once in the text) was too distracting, raising more questions than it answered - but I'll bear in mind that, as Hannah mentions, it's likely to refer to forensic assessments/evaluations.
Maria Chmelarova Jan 30, 2013:
Dylan yes "claims for medical negligence"
Hannah Geiger (X) Jan 30, 2013:
I would say it is a suspected wrongdoing, that is why the investigation is conducted, anyway, but it has to be proven first, IMO
Dylan Edwards (asker) Jan 30, 2013:
What I'm wondering here is whether 'forenzní dopady' implies medical claims, i.e. claims for medical negligence.
Jiri Lonsky Jan 30, 2013:
I would say yes.

forensic assessment/evaluation

I know that translation of Ústav soudního lékařství into English as Institute of Forensic Medicine, but I would rather see forensic assessment or evaluation here ...IMO

I was more inclined to the forensic assessment/evaluation/investigation because it is, I believe, a doctorspeak; doctors do have a lot of malpractice insurance and claims do not hurt them financially so to speak, however, forensic investigation may severely harm their reputation
