For wire used for "wiring" (i.e. electrical/electronic purposes), Tagalog speakers refer to such materials as "kable" ("kab-leh"). This is a general term for electrical/electronic wires consisting of metal or copper core wrapped with rubber or other insulation.

Although many Tagalog speakers would conveniently use "kable" to refer to any and every kind of wire, some speakers are quite discriminating and would prefer to use the word "kable" to refer only to wires that are rather big or thick (i.e. the English equivalent of "cable"). As for these speakers, they refer to the smaller or thinner wires also as "wire" (original English term adopted into Tagalog). This is also universally understood among Tagalog speakers.
