Actually there are no word in tamil used to denote this extended meaning of this english wordPORT.And the technical book writers simply use the transliteration of the word port.So any combination of sounds followed by the word(port)which is new can be derived to make new glossary but if the askeer doesnt like this he can make use of a word which atleast fulfills some sense of the extended meaning .I would suggest the followings "thurai" ( r retroflexed),"sandipu" which in english means 'junction'."Munai" in english it means 'point'.
