French term or phrase: premier bureau des hypothèques
Would one say "main/primary mortages office in Versailles" for this? I looked up "hypothèque" and got "mortgage" but am unsure of what the proper term should be for this type of "bureau".
The context is a sentence referring to a deed that was "...publiée au premier bureau des hypothèques de Versailles on [date]."

"Service de la direction générale des impôts qui gère le fichier immobilier. Ce fichier est quotidiennement mis à jour grâce aux notaires qui déposent les actes concernant toutes les mutations (vente, donation, succession, etc.). C’est grâce à ce service que l’on connaît le propriétaire de chaque bien ainsi que son état hypothécaire."

IATE has "land registry" or "mortgage registry" I think the latter is more precise.

Their support for "mortgage registry" cites Le Docte,Legal Dict.,Oyez,Brussels,1978

Looking at their support for "land registry" shows that they were actually supporting different terms in French: "cadastre et bureau de conservation des hypothèques" and "bureau du registre foncier".

the number one address for mortgages (to be followed by office´s name and address)

Explanation:
Should my assumption in this context be correct, the high confidence level is justified.

disagree  B D Finch: Your assumption and confidence level are both wrong. This is a public institution.

agree  Younes Marouf: Premier est utilisé quand il y a deux bureaux ou plus, la traduction devrait être "First Registry Office"

-> Thanks Younes, but afraid "First Registry Office" would be wrong. In Britain, the "Registry Office" is the popular name for the Registry of Births Deaths and Marriages! Also, "First" wouldn't be correct in an English context.

the first Land Charge Registry

Explanation:
'charges' is a broader term - covering various liens on property - than 'mortgages'.
The website below defines such charges.

Bridge's French-English legal dictionary gives both - Mortgage and Land Charge Registry.
