German to English Other social psychology

"Ist das Scheitern der Sozialpsychologie beim Versuch, den Olymp medialer Anerkennung zu erreichen, nicht vielmehr bereits in ihrem Objekt beschlossen"
Could medial here refer to media, as the text has just discussed TV and journals, otherwise it would seem strange to juxtapose medial and Mt Olymus. I do not think English uses medial though when discussing media, but maybe German does?
