Spanish term or phrase: vino base
The term occurs in an EU report about wine production.
Eurodicautom gives the English translation as 'cuvée' but this does not seem right to me.
A Spanish site defines it as...

Is 'base wine' right, or is there a technical term for it in English?

base wine

Explanation:

"Sparkling wines are produced from a base wine, differing from a typical
table wine primarily because the fruit is picked earlier..."

Me rectifico.
