Source text - Spanish La economía keynesiana. El crecimiento económico no es un proceso constante. A largo plazo la tendencia ha sido al alza, al menos en las economías desarrolladas, pero a corto plazo el crecimiento económico se ve salpicado por lo que los economistas denominan el ciclo económico. Hay períodos de auge en los cuales el crecimiento se acelera y la tasa de empleo es elevada; pero también surgen recesiones en las que las economías se contraen, los puestos de trabajo escasean y aumenta el desmpleo. Pero qué es lo que determina la magnitud de estas fluctuaciones? La teoría económica clásica afirmaba que los precios (incluidos los salarios) reaccionan rápidamente a los cambios en la oferta y a demanda, y que los mercados, por consiguiente, se ajustan rápidamente a los sobresaltos que se producen en la economía. En la teoría clásica el ciclo económico no tendría por qué desembocar en un desempleo masivo. Pero John Maynard Keynes (1883 - 1946), que tenía muy presente la Gran Depresión, se mostró contrario a este punto de vista. Afirmó que la demanda agregada (la demanda efectiva total en una economía) era uno de los motores fundamentales del ciclo económico. En una recesión, la demanda agregada tiende a caer, lo que provoca que el ciclo empeore, dando lugar a prolongados períodos de desempleo innecesario. A partir de esta idea, Keynes y sus discípulos concluyeron posteriormente que, manipulando la demanda agregada, los gobiernos podrían influir en el ciclo económico, y así allanar y reducir la volatilidad del desarrollo capitalista.
Translation - German Die Ökonomie nach Keynes. Wirtschaftliches Wachstum ist kein konstanter Prozess. Langfristig gibt es, zumindest in den entwickelten Volkswirtschaften, eine Tendenz zum Wachstum, kurzfristig ist dieses wirtschaftliche Wachstum jedoch von dem, was die Wirtschaftswissenschaft den Konjunkturzyklus nennt, beeinflusst. Es gibt Perioden des Aufschwungs, in denen sich das Wachstum beschleunigt und die Beschäftigungsquote hoch ist. Genauso entstehen hingegen immer wieder Rezessionen, während denen die Ökonomien schrumpfen, die Zahl der Arbeitsplätze zurückgeht und die Arbeitslosigkeit steigt. Was jedoch bestimmt den Umfang dieser Schwankungen? Die klassische Wirtschaftstheorie geht davon aus, dass die Preise (inklusive Löhne) schnell auf die veränderten Angebots- und Nachfragebedingungen reagieren und sich somit auch der Markt an die Sprünge innerhalb der Volkswirtschaft anpasst. Laut dieser Theorie müsste der Konjunkturzyklus nicht zwangsläufig zu großer Arbeitslosigkeit führen. John Maynard Keynes (1883 - 1946) nahm angesichts seiner Erfahrungen mit der Great Depression einen gegenteiligen Standpunkt ein. Er geht davon aus, dass die Gesamtnachfrage (jegliche, in einer Volkswirtschaft getätigte Nachfrage) eine der grundlegenden Kräfte des Konjunkturzyklus ist. In einer Rezession neigt die Gesamtnachfrage zu sinken, was eine Verschlechterung des Zyklus bedeutet und zu unnötig langen Perioden der Arbeitslosigkeit führt. Im Zuge dieser Idee formulierten Keynes und seine Schüler die Möglichkeit für den Staat, den Konjunkturzyklus durch die Manipulation der Nachfrage zu beeinflussen und somit die Volatilität der wirtschaftlichen Entwicklung zu nivellieren und zu reduzieren.
