Filling in Forms Contents | Index | Search Before you fill in a form, you might want to specify settings such as a name for your form entries, the presentation template you want ContentCenter to use when you generate an output page, and a name for the output file. Doing this before you start can save you time when you are ready to save and publish your content. See Specifying Form Settings and Generate Options. Click here to see a short video about filling in forms. A form entry window includes: Title bar — Indicates the type of form you are using (press release, for example). Menu bar — Displays the title of your form, and includes the following buttons: Save — Saves the form to the location specified in the Form Settings dialog box. Save as — Enables you to specify a different name for the form and saves a copy of the form to the location specified in the Form Settings dialog box. Preview — Opens a browser window that displays your saved form entries as they would appear in a generated output file, or Web page, viewed through a browser. Generate — Creates a Web page by combining your form entries with the specified presentation template. Presentation template and output file name are specified in the Forms Settings dialog box. Settings — Opens the Form Settings dialog box where you can specify a name for your form entries, the presentation template you want ContentCenter to use when you generate an output page, and a name for the output file. Named input fields — The input fields that are displayed varies depending on the form you select. Some forms might include input fields that you can replicate (see Working with Forms) and input fields that contain rich-text formatting tools. Enter information into form input fields. An asterisk (*) next to a field name indicates that information is required. Some fields might require you to enter information in a specific format. For example, a field named Start Date might require you to enter a date in YYYY-MM-DD format. A question mark () next to a field name indicates a tool tip exists to help you fill out that field. Hover your mouse over the question mark to view the tool tip. If you are linking to MediaBin or WorkSite content using the ECM Connector feature, you can include digital assets or links to related documents, respectively: MediaBin — click the associated button to display a pop-up window that allows you to browse the contents of the associated MediaBin server. You can navigate through the folders for the digital asset you want. You can also use the Find feature to search your current folder based on the filenames of the folder’s contents. When you select what you want and click OK, the path to the MediaBin directory containing the digital asset file is listed in the path field and the digital asset’s name is listed in the file field. The labels for the path and file fields are user-defined in the datacapture.cfg file. The file field value is used as the Alt value in the outputted file. You can modify the file file to another value if you want. WorkSite — click the associated button to display a pop-up window that allows you to browser the contents of the associated WorkSite MP server. You can navigate through the workareas for the documents you want. You can also use the Find feature to search your current workarea based on the filenames of the workarea’s contents. If the form you selected enables you to replicate input fields, you can use the following buttons in the input field’s title bar to add, delete, move up, and move down input fields. When a button is grey, that functionality is not available. Adds an input field below the current field. Deletes the current input field. Moves the current input field up one level. Moves the current input field down one level. If you make a mistake filling out a form, such as entering information in an incorrect format or not entering required information, ContentCenter notifies you of the error when you click Finish. Input fields that contain errors are highlighted in red and an error message is displayed at the bottom of the page. Click Finish when you are done filling out the form. If you have not already saved the form, or specified settings for it, ContentCenter prompts you to select a location where you want to save your form entries and a name for them; otherwise, your form is saved and ContentCenter returns you to the screen where you opened the form.
