It is my pleasure to write about Kris’ work with SAI and to recommend her as a colleague. SAI, founded in 1997, is an international, multi-stakeholder organization promoting workers’ rights around the world through training and capacity building, the SA8000 workplace standard, and social certification programs.
I’ve known her since 2001, when she worked as a translator and interpreter for members of our international Advisory Board, worked with us in a range of administrative capacities, developed a research report for us, and gained knowledge of our work and the international social standards movement. She is our ongoing on-call person for Italian-English interpreting and translations.
In February, 2012, she assisted us with a set of case studies we were doing with the UN Global Compact.
Specifically, during their stays in NY, she assisted senior staff of the Coop Italia supermarket chain and also SAI’s Italian representative, at multi-day Advisory Board meetings, strategic planning sessions, ancillary financial meetings and an awards ceremony. This assistance took the form of simultaneous interpretation, press interpretation, taking minutes in Italian, and document translation. She also translated correspondence between SAI in New York and numerous parties in Italy. She also wrote and researched, from primary Italian sources, a report on a major labor rights issue in Kenya agriculture.
In this work, Kris became familiar with the landscape [and jargon!] of social certification and in particular with the labor issues addressed by the SA8000 Standard.
As a co-worker, Kris is engaged, enthusiastic, highly skilled, and willing to go whatever extra mile needed to finalize a project. I recommend her most highly and know that any organization she decided to join would be very fortunate and find its ability to achieve its mission enhanced.

I have known Kris Petersson professionally for going on 3 years now, and have always found her to be professional, timely and accurate. She has done a variety of jobs for us, including translation from Italian, and transcription of CRM messages left in Italian.
The translations she has handled for us from Italian have been various, from documents supporting a show at a major NYC gallery (Gagosian) to verifying the quality of Marketing Instrument Translations, and Verbatim Answers on Marketing Surveys. Kris Petersson has done and still does a large number of Italian>English translations for us.
Most of the material is legal, medical or financial, often very high-level stuff. She started
with us in the late 90s, and for the past few years she has also been translating
French>English and English>Italian.
Her translating skills are excellent, and she is also an extremely good editor.
Part of her work is editing other translators’ work. She always meets our deadlines.
She is also very pleasant and easy to work with.
