Site status updates

The reliability of the site and services are of paramount importance to ProZ.com, and site staff do everything to ensure that the site is there when you need it. If problems do arise, however, informative status updates will be posted to this page. If you need help from ProZ.com staff, please submit a support request


Intermittent problem accessing the site (server not found)

Some users have reported intermittent problems loading ProZ.com pages, with a browser error like "server not found". A related report indicated being able to access the site, but without any images or CSS styles (causing the page to lose its formatting). The problem was due to a configuration issue with ProZ.com's domain name service (DNS) provider. A fix was applied, and the problem corrected for some users.

Some users continued to report problems accessing the site. Site staff are continuing to work with ProZ.com's DNS provider to completely resolve the issue.

If you are having this problem, and if you are running Microsoft Windows, please help troubleshoot the issue by doing the following:

* Open a command prompt by going to Start->Run and typing cmd.exe

* Type the following command: nslookup -debug www.proz.com

* Copy and paste the output from that command into an email message and send it to [email protected]

Until this is permanently fixed, a possible workaround may be for affected users to switch their DNS configuration to use Google's public DNS server. See http://code.google.com/speed/public-dns/ for information about how to do this.
