English to Spanish: Rumour (Peter Burke)
Source text - English Once despised as beneath the notice of scholars, rumour has become a topic of interest to psychologists, sociologists, anthropologists and historians, as well as to specialists in the study of communication. There has been a shift from a negative to a positive approach to this phenomenon, which might be defined as ‘a brief, anonymous, unverified report of a supposed event’. Originally these reports passed from mouth to mouth, but today we need to include the stories that circulate in the newspapers, on television and on the internet as well as everyday conversation.

Hi, I'm an English graduate from Universidad de Chile; I've been teaching not only English but Grammar, Phonetics, Methodology and General and Applied Linguistics at Language Institutes and Universities for 15 years. In the field of translation I have had many odd jobs throughout my career and I worked for the Culture area of La Tercera newspaper for four years, translating movie reviews, essays on History, Economics, Literature, and so on.
I'm mostly interested in science, language and philosophy, but I'm quite conversant in a lot of fields.
