BIO; Salvador Rodríguez-Gil Batista
Salvador was born in Mexico City in October 1964 from Mexican parents in a Spanish family & with American education. He was raised in a multicultural environment becoming bilingual in English-Spanish.
Sal started his professional career with Berlitz México in September 1987 as a language teacher for both English as a second language & Spanish for expatriates been named teacher of the year in 1988. In December 1989 he was promoted to Language Center Director of one of the 22 language centers in the country. He managed the second most productive center in Berlitz Latin America, among 57 centers for 8 years consecutively. By 1992 Sal enrolled at “Escuela Bancaria y Comercial” in Mexico City to study business administration.
As part of his professional development Sal decided to leave Berlitz, joining Olsten Staffing during 1998 & 1999, expanding his international multicultural expertise, working for the Latin America Division as Corporate Sales Executive, having under his responsibility sales for Mexico, Puerto Rico, Chile, Argentina & Brazil. During his two years of association with Olsten Staffing Sal traveled a week a month to the USA as part of the American sale team. He also traveled permanently to the 5 countries in the region to conduct sales calls with clients & meetings with colleagues, reinforcing his international multicultural experience.
In January 2000 Sal was invited to return to Berlitz Mexico as Corporate Sales Manager this time, applying his international exposure. During 2001 Sal took the training to become Cross-cultural trainer, broadening his scope & functions in the company. By February 2003 he requested a transfer to one of the affiliate offices in Europe & in September he joined Berlitz Spain as Corporate Sales Manager. It was in 2005 that Sal joined the Cultural Division of the company obtaining his certification as Cross-cultural consultant being the sole trainer for Spain & Portugal, delivering seminars for expatriates of large multinational companies based both in Madrid & Lisbon. Sal also contributed writing a couple of articles, one on “Mexican Cultural values” & one on “Management Style”, he also lectured several times at trade shows for HR executives on “International Mobility” in Madrid & Barcelona.
As of October 2005 Sal returned to Mexico City working as Independent Cross-cultural Consultant, supporting several companies training their expatriates relocating abroad as well as Berlitz Int. Customers. During 2009 Sal conducted a research project for TMC - Training Management Corporation, for their on-line application, the Cultural Navigator® and its tools, the COM® Cultural Orientations Model & COI® Cultural Orientations Indicator, for the Mexico chapter & prepared the final document to up-load at: http://www.tmcorp.com & www.culturalnavigator.com Currently Sal is taking an Interpreter & Translator Diploma & continues to consult companies on Cross-cultural matters, lecturing and training international assignees. |
