Bio
SDL_i-work-with_Trados-2014_square

I am an English mother tongue translator, currently working as the lead translator and reviser for La Stampa in English and the single in-house translator and editor for the English section of the Vatican Insider website, run by Italian national newspaper La Stampa. When I am not in the newsroom, I work as a freelance translator and reviser, using SDL Trados 2014 as my main CAT tool but can adapt to any other software/workflow system provided by the client.

I have 5+ years’ experience working with often highly complex journalistic texts on topics ranging from religious affairs, to finance, law, international politics, music and much more. Give me any type of newspaper article in Italian, Spanish or Greek and I can turn it into a beautifully written, accurate and natural-sounding piece in English (visit Vatican Insider for a taster). My translations have been re-tweeted and reprinted by major newspapers such as “The Sunday Times” and I have extensive experience in the various elements of copywriting and editing as well as translating in real time for live blogs, covering major events such as the Italian elections in 2013, the Papal Conclave and Pope Francis’ visit to Turin.

I have also translated numerous legal and technical texts (see CV), including divorce certificates, university diplomas, school reports, manuals for home appliances and industrial machinery, motorsports, medical studies, cosmetics, fashion and beverage catalogues and much more (see samples published on my Proz profile page to get an idea). In addition, I have translated unpublished excerpts of literary works which I would be glad to provide samples of. In July 2016 I attended "Translate in the City", City University London's 5-day Literary Translation Summer School, where I attended practical workshops and lectures on various aspects of literary translation (including fiction, crime fiction and poetry).
