Spanish to English: Nuevas estrategias exploratorias que combinan objetivos estructurados, estratigráficos y recursos no convencionales General field: Science Detailed field: Geology
Translation - English New exploratory strategies combining structural and stratigraphic objectives and unconventional resources
Santa Victoria Area. In the Northwest of Argentina and limiting at the North with Bolivia it is located a hydrocarbon exploration area known as Santa Victoria which is part of the “Chaqueña” plain (“llanura chaqueña”). Santa Victoria area is located on a sedimentary column formed in the Silurian period. This sedimentary column was developed as the product of the beginning of a foreland basin which extends in an elongated way in the direction North- South at latitudes 17° to 23° south almost wholly in the Bolivian territory. Santa Victoria comprises the regions known as Subandean, Andean foothills, and part of the Chaqueña plain. The most relevant hydrocarbon developments within this basin are related to big structures generated from the compression initiated in the Medium Miocene. The hydrocarbon play completes with reservoir rocks of marine, fluvial, and fluvio-glacial origin, pelitic source rock, and a quite thick regional seal originated in a superficial marine platform. The ages involved are within the Devonian, Carboniferous, and Permian periods.
